Facebook Introducing a Dislike Button

Facebook are introducing the “dislike” button, for many years there have been numerous parody accounts trying to encourage Facebook to create a dislike button. This is exactly what Mark Zuckerberg revealed at a Q+A session at Facebook’s headquarter.

He said that Facebook was “very close” to having it ready for users to test.

He then continued saying “people have asked about the dislike Button for many years,”

“Probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it.””

But where do you draw the line? Mr Zuckerberg had said that he did not want it to be a mechanism where Facebook users could down vote other people’s posts.

The dislike button will be more like a like button for sad posts, we have all seen sad Facebook posts right? Well you feel really insensitive liking the status.

Professor Andrea Forte, who is an expert in social and participatory media at Drexel University has said “I suspect it will mainly be used to express mild disapproval, or to express solidarity when someone posts about a negative event like a death or a loss.”
