Google+ and YouTube Are Finally Splitting Up

So after many years Google+ and YouTube are finally splitting up. Before now you were required to have a Google+ account to share and communicate on YouTube. “A Google Account will be all you’ll need to share content, communicate with contacts, and create a YouTube channel and more, all across Google.”

Google+ was planned to be the big rival against Facebook and Twitter back when it started 4 years ago, and most people myself included believed it to take over. However it did not and has only a small minute following of people.

First it started with Google Photos, this is Google’s cloud server that you can aback all of your photos up so you never lose them, and now they are breaking perhaps one of the most popular streaming services YouTube.  Google’s Bradley Horowitz wrote. “We think changes like these will lead to a more focused, more useful, more engaging Google+.”

“Your underlying Google Account won’t be searchable or followable, unlike public Google+ profiles,” Horowitz says. “And for people who already created Google+ profiles but don’t plan to use Google+ itself, we’ll offer better options for managing and removing those public profiles.”

So now if you comment or like a YouTube video it will no longer show up on your Google+ profile, but having the freedom to create a YouTube channel, upload videos or comment on them without the use of Google+ is still a long way off, and they have advised that users do not remove their Google+ account before that day comes, if you do then your whole YouTube account will be lost.

Google have insisted that Google+ is not going away

So what do you think? Are you happy that YouTube and google are finally separating? Are you glad that you are no longer required to have an active Google+ account? Or do you like how the two social platforms were integrated? Let us know in the comment section below!
