The Facebook Newsfeed is planning to overhaul how their platform works. With the aim being to prioritize friends and family’s posts and make businesses, brands and media less prominent.

Facebook Newsfeed Overhaul

Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page that his main aim for 2018 is to focus on sparking conversations among friends and family.

However, he also acknowledged that organizations on Facebook may see that the popularity of their posts decreases as a result.

These new changes are going to be coming into effect over the next few weeks.

Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page:

“We’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content – posts from businesses, brands and media – is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other,”

“By making these changes, I expect the time people spend on Facebook and some measures of engagement will go down, but I also expect the time you do spend on Facebook will be more valuable.”
