Facebook falling out of love with the ‘like’ button?

Has Facebook fallen out of love with the ‘like’ button?

Facebook has begun testing a new feature that will hide public-facing ‘like’ counts on user’s content. This means that only the creator of the post will be able to see who has ‘liked’ their content. Other on the social platform will only be able to see a limited number of reactions.

This follows Instagram, a company owned by Facebook who has already started to hide ‘like’ counts earlier this year.

According to numerous research articles, social media users have been increasingly vocal about how they are left feeling insecure, and unsatisfied when their content does not get enough reactions. If Facebook is to permanently remove the like count feature this could help remove that pressure from users. Allowing for a more pleasant and joyful experience.
